A plain roundup of companies that offer a real discount to firefighters and first responders. We do not run any of these programs and we earn nothing from them. Terms change often, so treat this as a starting point and confirm the current deal at the source before you count on it.

How verification usually works
Most companies no longer check an ID at the register. They hand eligibility to a third-party verifier. You set up a free account once, then log in at checkout. Knowing the four common ones saves you time.
ID.me
Verify once, then log in at checkout on any participating site. A few programs, like Verizon and Lowe's, ask you to re-verify once a year.
GovX
You shop through a GovX storefront or apply a GovX code. Common for boots, tactical gear, and some hotel brands.
SheerID
Confirms your employment on the spot at checkout. Used by Timberland PRO and Dell. Bass Pro and Cabela's run their own one-time account verification instead.
Department ID
Many theme parks during their tribute windows, some hotels at check-in, auto shops, and restaurants still just want to see a valid fire department or agency ID.

Fox Rent A Car
10% off for first responders on all vehicle classes at US corporate locations, for pickups through the end of 2026. Just show your current employee ID at pickup, no code needed.

Knott's Berry Farm
Fire & Law Tribute Days bring admission to about $25 for you plus up to five guests, on a seasonal schedule. A separate year-round online discount runs through ID.me. Verify with ID.me online or a fire or law ID at the booth.

Public Employee Appreciation Days bring a one-day ticket to about $59, $35 off a season pass, and 15% off resort stays, verified through ID.me. The 2026 window ran April 13 to June 28 and has ended; it returns annually in spring, so confirm next year's dates.

First responder discount on tires and service, set at the store level. Firestone does not publish a percentage, so ask before the work starts. Show a valid first responder ID or proof of employment at check-in. Participating locations only.

Advance's documented program is a military discount (10% off regular-priced items in-store). A first responder discount is not corporately documented and varies by store, so confirm locally. SpeedPerks members already get 10%.

Auto & home insurance
Insurance is quote-based, not a coupon. California Casualty is the one built specifically for firefighters.
California Casualty
Auto and home coverage designed for firefighters and EMS: a reduced deductible if your vehicle is damaged or vandalized at or near the station, and $500 of personal-property coverage for turnout gear. Quote through an agent; endorsed by many fire associations. A CA-based insurer, fully usable here.

An occupational discount for firefighters and police, commonly cited around 8%, that can stack with a bundle. Confirm with a Farmers agent. Availability and amount vary by state, and California restricts occupation-based auto rating under Prop 103, so confirm it applies to a California policy.

Emergency-services savings for police, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics come through membership and affinity groups, not a standalone first responder discount. Important for California: under Prop 103, occupation and affinity-based auto rating is barred, so this is effectively unavailable on a California auto policy.

Up to 12% off for IAFF members through a group code, applied at quote. This is an endorsed affinity program, not shown on Liberty Mutual's public discounts page. Important for our readers: it is not available in California (occupation and affinity auto rating is barred under Prop 103), so it does not apply to a California policy. Listed for reference.

One honest correction here: the well-known Lowe's 10% is military-only. Home Depot has no first responder discount.
Lowe's
A free upgrade to MyLowe's Rewards Silver Key status, which adds free standard shipping and faster points. First responders do not get the everyday 10%; that is military and veteran only. Verify with ID.me and re-verify each year.
